Are you looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced environment? The Municipality of Clare is seeking applications for a full-time permanent Patient Attendant (PA) role at the Clare Health Centre (CHC).
ABOUT THE JOB
General Information and Work Environment:
- Permanent full-time position (35 hours per week).
- Reports to the CHC Manager.
- Indoor, fast pace, medical office environment.
- The CHC takes pride in offering a clean, healthy, and professional work environment for all its staff.
- Work hours are between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and occasionally on holidays and Saturday mornings from 8:30 a.m. – noon (approx. once / month). Work shifts occurring on Saturdays and holidays are scheduled on a rotational basis. Note: the CHC is closed on New Year's Day, Easter, Labour Day, and Christmas.
- Any additional hours worked are to be presented as paid leave.
Position Summary:
The Patient Attendant will contribute to the overall success of the CHC by providing high quality services to all patients. The PA is one of the first points of contact when patients visit the CHC. Here are some of the duties:
- Escort patients to appropriate treatment rooms.
- Take average blood pressure readings and vital signs on all patients.
- Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and exam rooms.
- Document all observations and results in patient's electronic record.
- Perform ECGs, eye exams or other basic procedures when required for patients seeing on-call physician.
- Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies.
ABOUT YOU
Required Qualifications and Training:
Education:
- High school diploma and continuing care certificate, or other post-secondary education in a related field.
Experience:
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum one year experience working in direct patient care and taking vital signs preferred.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and French.
- Working knowledge of computers.
- Possession of a valid CPR / First Aid / Medical First Responder certification (or willingness to obtain certification prior to beginning).
- High level of confidentiality.
ABOUT THE CLARE HEALTH CENTRE
The CHC was built in 2008 and is owned and operated by the Municipality of Clare. The building is currently under expansion, the main level section being complete. The CHC is often considered an exemplary model of primary health care, in which health care providers rent space in the building and support staff are municipal employees. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- The annual salary scale for this position is $41,768 to $52,621.

- Employees of the Municipality of Clare receive two weeks (10 working days) of paid vacation during their first two years of employment, with an additional week (15 working days) of paid vacation starting at the beginning of their third year of employment. Additional vacation allowances are available thereafter, in accordance with the Employee Policy Manual.
